My role

Project concept, character development & scoring framework

Focus

Departmental identity · Morale · Initiative · Accountability

The idea

Making internal recognition feel personal.

I created BD Impact as an internal communications project at ITG, bringing the Business Development departments together through a shared cast of characters and a monthly impact scoreboard.

Each character was built around the department’s shared traits, working habits and responsibilities. The aim was accuracy and familiarity: a personality the team could recognise as its own, with details that reflected how it worked and what it contributed.

Each department now owns its character. That shared identity gives recognition a more memorable, human form and creates a common language for celebrating contributions across teams.

The monthly system

Rewarding work that makes a difference.

The characters are scored monthly to encourage morale, ownership and initiative. Points recognise meaningful contributions, with a clear distinction between impactful work and routine activity.

+1

Impactful task

A submitted task earns one point when it makes a meaningful contribution.

+2

Department initiative

An initiative earns two points when the department takes ownership, submits it and puts real work into developing it.

−1

Missed deadline

An impactful task loses one point when it is delayed or misses its deadline.

Routine day-to-day activity, such as creating a standard report, does not automatically qualify. The contribution needs to have impact; the score is about the value of the work, rather than the volume of tasks submitted.

Outcome

Six characters. One recognition framework.

BD Impact brought together six departmental characters, a monthly scoreboard and scoring rules for impactful tasks, departmental initiatives and missed deadlines. These deliverables give departments a shared way to recognise contributions; the case study does not report measured changes in morale or performance.

The purpose

A shared identity, with a reason to act.

BD Impact connects creative communication with a practical recognition framework. The characters build belonging, the monthly scoreboard makes contributions visible, and the scoring rules encourage teams to move ideas forward while remaining accountable for delivery.

It is designed to strengthen morale and make initiative part of the conversation: giving departments a way to celebrate what they contribute and a reason to look beyond their everyday responsibilities.
