Subhan · Islamic essentials brand

My contribution

Brand concept, positioning & product direction

Stage

01 · The opportunity

A meaningful category.
A more contemporary expression.

Subhan began with a gap I saw in Islamic essentials: many products and the way they are presented can feel dated, with limited attention to contemporary design and a coherent brand experience. Prayer apparel and mats are deeply personal objects used every day, yet there is room to rethink how they look, feel and fit into modern life.

The opportunity was to create an Islamic essentials brand that brings considered design to everyday worship while keeping faith, modesty and purpose at its centre.

02 · The brand idea

Made for Faith.

Subhan is built around a simple idea: the objects we use for worship deserve the same thought and care we give to other essentials in our lives. “Made for Faith” gives the brand a clear foundation across its identity, product direction and communication.

The direction combines Islamic visual references with a contemporary presentation. A consistent identity, restrained details and purposeful storytelling connect the products to the meaning behind them.

03 · My approach

Building the brand around the experience.

I have been shaping Subhan from the initial idea through its positioning, brand narrative and product direction. The work connects a gap in the category with a clear proposition: Islamic essentials designed with intention for the people who use them.

That thinking extends across prayer apparel, prayer mats, visual presentation and packaging concepts. The aim is to build a recognisable brand whose identity feels consistent from the first impression to the experience of preparing for prayer.

04 · Product direction

Designed around everyday worship.

The product direction includes a men’s Izar, women’s prayer apparel and prayer mats. Apparel development centres on modest coverage, comfort and ease of movement during prayer. The men’s Izar is conceived as dedicated prayer attire, with a simple form rather than everyday trousers.

Prayer-mat development explores different contexts, including everyday use, additional cushioning, outdoor use and children’s designs. Material explorations have included textiles, burlap, cork and wood; these remain development explorations rather than confirmed specifications. The focus is on practical use, a considered visual language and a coherent family of products.

05 · Current stage

From concept to production.

Subhan’s products are still in production and have not launched. This case study documents the brand direction and product development so far.

The visuals below show identity, apparel and packaging concepts, including early design explorations. They communicate the intended direction; final materials, features and product details may evolve during production. Commercial results will be added after launch.

What brand decisions does this project show?

This is a record of developing my own brand, rather than a report of a completed launch. The work centres on prayer apparel and mats, connecting “Made for Faith” with the identity and product direction.

The question I return to is whether a decision helps create a clearer, more coherent experience of everyday worship. That connects design with use and keeps product development part of building the brand.

The products are in production. I am showing the brand direction and work in progress, without attributing unconfirmed sales or results to it.
